Wow! I can't believe I am about to post pictures from 6/22/10. I am almost two months behind! The only good thing is the reason we are so far behind is because we have been BUSY BUSY BUSY living life and making memories! We went to Colorado for a week for a family reunion, then hosted our silber fam for about a week, then I tried working a different schedule of wed, fri, sat nights and found I didn't get anything done! And....on top of all of that Maya got her first two bottom teeth while we were in Colorado, so I have been taking advantage of sleeping whenever she is sleeping and that seems to be quite often during the day these days since she likes to be up about every two hours during the night. whew! I think we are in a bettter place now. I didn't think I would ever admit to enjoying working the weekend nights, but I really really have grown to love our Monday-Friday routine with a big stretch of time off work. So, here goes some catching up...

a few facts about Maya at 5 months old
she rubs her eyes when she is tired
she reaches up to your face to touch it
she studies her toys before they go directly to her mouth
she loves her oatmeal and sweet potatoes
her giggles come easier when she is getting hungry and being teased
she is so aware of the kitties that she will stop what she is doing to watch them

Father's Day 2010 was unfortunately spent by me working the night before and the night of. Maya and I were able to present J with a few gifts in between shifts. We bought him the matching Daddy and I book that is written by the same author who wrote the Mommy and I book that they bought for me for Mother's Day. We also bought him a croquet set, which we thought would be fun for him to take with to the park on the weekends when he meets up with his friends to give me some peaceful rest during the day. It is so amazing to be celebrating J as a father this year! He is just so amazing with our precious little daughter and it just warms my heart watching the two of them together.

Meaka and Milo enjoy as much time in our room as possible during the day because they are still not allowed in our room overnight while Maya is still sleeping in the pack n' play. They love each other.

My attempt at Maya's 5 month portrait....
As you can see she is a little more mobile these days and interested in about anything she can reach to put into her mouth. And of late, she is busy spending her time trying to figure out how to sit up and stay that way!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bathtime is getting interesting these days.
She is outgrowing her little newborn tub that fits so perfectly in the kitchen sink. she just kicks and kicks and kicks those little legs to the point that I think there is more water covering me and the floor than her! She has been doing "v-ups" as my friend Kendra calls them. She spends a lot of her time strengthening those tummy muscles so she can sit up independently one of these days. And it is so apparent in these pictures how blue her eyes really are....and they aren't photoshopped either! The lighting in the kitchen just happens to be superb!

Sweet potatoes anyone??
Maya gets so excited when I put her into her high chair. She makes the sweetest little noises letting me know she can't wait to eat some real food! P.S. I scored this chair off of craigslist as well...normally over a $200 highchair that we bought for about $50-60!

Maya's 5 month photoshoot take 2
Since my mom saved so many of my dresses from when I was a baby, it has become really fun to dress Maya in them to see how she would have looked back in the 80s! And I may be a tad bit biased, but I think she can totally rock out these 80's dresses! :) We always start off with lots of smiles, but she inevitably gets hungry and when she gets hungry she turns into "monster maya." She starts making these growling noises and opens her mouth as wide as can be! And, if we don't get the hint with the wide mouth and the growling then we get a little taste of an impending melt-down.

A new toy.
I did it. I broke down and bought her an exersaucer. Used of course. Off of craigslist.
After we wiped it all down and did our best to sanitize it she gave it a whirl and was quite impressed! She loves to be upright playing with the myriad of toys. And of course each and every piece that she can grab went straight into her mouth, and if she couldn't get it to her mouth, then she just leaned forward enough to get her mouth to it. What a smart little girl!
Someone is beginning to like her tummy time...

We have a roller.
Anytime we put her down onto her back she immediately rolls over onto her stomach. She hasn't quite figured out how to get back from her tummy to her back and this causes her some major grief sometimes. Maybe now that bald spot will start growing in!
much much more to come!
