Big Sur Excursion

Ok...disclaimer...I accidentally deleted this photo from the list below, so I had to put it back on here so it would make sense, and for some reason I cannot copy and paste these photos back into order. Anyone have any tips??? Anyways....here is our trip to Big Sur, California!

We were looking for a little vacation getaway together and Jason had the best idea to take me to Big Sur! We sort of camped out overnight one saturday night and then headed back home Sunday afternoon after taking in the beautiful sights! I just realized with this latest blog posting that I need to upload the newest pictures last to be able to accurately show the story of our trip! I will try to do this in the future! But for now, you will just have to bear with me on this!

Beautiful beach in Carmel, CA

Even thought it looks kind of gross I thought the seaweed was really cool looking, hence the need to document and take a picture of it!

It is amazing how beautiful the coastline really is!

As we were driving home from our trip to Big Sur it just kind of dawned on us that this is CARMEL, CA the famous winery town! We will have to come back for another visit some time!

This was such a stunning view...if you look closely in the background you can see the road and the huge bridge we later drove across! It was so much fun cruising the coastline in the AUDI!

Albino Redwood Tree.....the only one ever known of lives right here at the Fernwood Campground in Big Sur!

Ok....so backward pics remember, we were cooking our broccoli, or attempting to anyways!

Our VERY well done chicken cooked camp fire style and our chili beans! We accidentally lost half of the beans on transfer from the grill to the plate! This chicken was good enough to eat with plenty of ranch and BBQ sauce!

The master chef at work...my husband can cook up some chicken like you wouldn't believe!

The charcoal + light fluid fire wasn't quite big enough to reach the mini grill so we actually had to go and buy some firewood to create a bigger fire....and we were nice and lent our lighter fluid to a couple that was having trouble getting their fire started and literally about an hour or so later they finally returned it to us....we were sure they had run off with our lighter fluid!

So J has this hat that I think is absolutely hilarious and since I was the one that packed us up for the trip I decided to bring this hat along for him to wear....he was pretty surprised I had brought this hat and later explained to me that his grandmother had given it to him and he didn't have the heart to get rid of it....but never actually wears it! So....he got some use out of it for one of the first times! Made me giggle a lot!

Cozy little general store at the campground, complete with a sleeping kitty!

The infamous "tent cabin" which literally was a tent-cabin!

J trying to unpack and create a little nest for us!

Early morning shot, before J had his coffee!

The cutest little office snuggled in with all the redwoods!

Saturday night adventures! We were sightseeing in the dark!

I believe this place is called Aphrodites or something to that extent...it is a really awesome outdoors patio overlooking the ocean on a huge cliff in Big Sur. I am sure it was really expensive to eat here....luckily they just let us peruse around and check out the sites....and J helped me to discover that my camera has a night shot mode! I love this picture!

Sunset snapshot with a sliver of the moon! It was really romantic to watch the sunset with the love of my life! I feel so blessed to wake up every morning knowing I am right where I belong, in the arms of my soul mate!

First day of our trip to Big Sur....had a heart to heart on one of these boulders overlooking the ocean! I will never forget the first time I ever saw Big Sur!

Our First Turkey!

November 27th, 2008 Thanksgiving Day:

Jason and I hosted Thanksgiving at our place this year and we were so thankful to have Kyle and Brandy over for Thanksgiving dinner! We had decided a few days before that we were going to go for it and cook our first turkey! Jason went ahead and bought the best deal he could find and we ended up starting off our first turkey all 20 pounds of it! In the morning we got up and watched our little sister Josie in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade....her high school got the chance to be in the parade! She is in color guard so she got a whole week in the Big Apple! And excitingly enough we did see her for a split-second in the parade! After we watched the parade we started the cooking! We were proud of our kitchen allowing us the space for both of us to work and cook at the same time! Jason took on the turkey, cleaned it all out and then last minute called mom Silber to get the details about how to cook the turkey. In the meantime I was working on the potatoes, the homemade baked beans, the cornbread corn bake, and the cornbread muffins from scratch! Kyle and Brandy brought the dessert and the wine! Even though the turkey took forever to cook, it was well worth the wait! We had the most moist, delicious turkey we have ever had! And we had witnesses to our amazingness! Kyle and Brandy were impressed as well! We had a great Thanksgiving! Here are some of the pics!

J with his place full of the goods!

Carving the turkey like an old pro!

The brothers....Kyle is actually a really good chef, so we had to get his approval!

J proud of our TURKEY!

The two little love birds!

The kitchen and some random ingredients to put together our Thanksgiving dinner!

Another pic of ourselves....you can tell I had just cut some onions...my eyes were still stinging!

The turkey pre-cooked! Looks beautiful doesn't it?

We stuffed a huge amount of veggies inside!

Comedy Club Night with Damon Wayans

Friday November 21st, 2008

Someone at work told me about this site called Goldstar where you get discounted tickets to anything you can think of! We heard Damon Wayans was in town and decided it was time for date night! We tend to be on a budget so we decided to eat our dinner picnic style! We got some Dominoe's cheesy bread to go, cooked up some yummy broccoli chicken pasta, and took some red wine along. We packed a little picnic, took one of the buses downtown, and found a nearby park to eat our little dinner. It was perfect! We were even serenaded by someone on a trumpet trying to make a few dollars! The comedy club was fun, we ordered our required drinks and enjoyed most of the show. We were shocked to find out that Damon is already like 50 something! And of course, some pics we took ourselves! I got all dollled up and wore my new dress I bought at a little boutique in San Fran.

Trip to Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, California

One of these blogs I will remember to upload the pics first and then type the blog entry!
The group of brown-nosers! Jason's professor Joe is on the far left standing in the back, and that is his wife with the glasses. She actualy works for QuickSilver in the women's dept. she does all of the design work!

We had to take a picture next to this HUGE beer stine! Especially since we are both German!

We actually watched them pour a "boot" of beer, you know on one of those movies....anyways....a guy did actually drink from a glass boot!

Saturday November 22, 2008:
Jason's creature design class was scheduled to take a school trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Jason had asked his professor if I could ride along. The professor was a little hesitant at first but then told Jason that I would be allowed to ride along and even have free admission to the aquarium if one of the students decided not to show. Luckily, I was able to join for FREE! It was a beautiful drive down the coast of California to this cozy little town of Monterey. The aquarium was absolutely amzing! We spend the most time in the jellyfish aquarium! They do use black lighting to help illuminate the jellyfish, but either way the colors were magnificent! Jason spent some time sketching while I just browsed! Joe Weatherly, Jason's teacher wanted to see some sketches when the day trip was over. It was cute, because after the trip was over and we were on our way back home to San Francisco, Joe had invited us out to have a beer with him and his wife. A couple of the other students hung around and got to "brown-nose" with the rest of us! I guess Joe knows quite a few Irish & German pubs in San Francisco and we headed to one of his favorites! We had a good time socializing!

Monterey Bay just after sunset
One of the biggest aquariums with hammerhead sharks, dolphins, tuna, etc.

The amazing, colorful jellyfish

Random pic....I think we were cooking something in our tiny kitchen!

Halloween 2008

Ok, so I tried to get the text at the top of the page and wasn't able to do it, so you will just have to read from the bottom and then check out the pics!
Jason & I as scary vampires-with widow's peaks added in!

Jason's brother Kyle as a Zombie-note the awesome make-up job!

Brandy & Kyle the Zombie couple with AWESOME make-up!

Jason & Jenna pre-widow's peaks and our crazy wigs! Like I told Jason, we are going to go as a normal cute couple next year!

The fun started with the airbrushed face make-up!
It was actually a huge mess! Everything in the bathroom was glazed with white face paint!

Ok, so I know it has been forever since we have posted! I am determined to get this site whipped back into shape! I am going to start right where I left off and hopefully get this caught up to February! For Halloween we had some pretty hilarious pics I thought I should post! The plan was supposed to be for Jason's brother Kyle and his girlfriend Brandy to paint our faces for Halloween (they are the make-up artists) and Jason and I agreed to be vampires for Halloween, knowing that next year I want to go as some cute, normal couple for Halloween! He originally wanted to go as zombies, and I finally agreed on vampires! So we went off to the Halloween store and spent more money then we went thinking we were going to spend and ended up leaving with the most hilarious matching wigs we could find! Then, come to find out that Kyle and Brandy weren't going to have time to do our face make-up we were left to do it ourselves! We used Jason's airbrush machine to "air brush" the white face paint on our faces! And the pics will probably explain the rest!
