an inspiring teen, a playdate, an independent eater and a shoe fetish....

November 2010
This girl inspires me...
She has had two complete lung transplants and she is only 16 years old. She has been one of my primary patients for over a year now and she is a fighter! She was there when I announced my pregnancy, watched my belly grow over time and is still here to see little miss maya in person.  (though I am happy to say that she has been at home for over 3 months at this point in time). She was a previously healthy cheerleading teenager and all of a sudden found herself on ECMO and 7 days later received her first bilateral lung transplant. Talk about turning your world upside down. She has taught me so much in the short time that I have known her.  This is one of the reasons why I love my job so much. The patients and the families that I get to meet and interact with are usually amazing, and this particular family has become so close to being my own family. Love her.

the rest of these pics are a hodge podge of the rest of maya's 9th month...
a much needed playdate with our favorite little man Hamish after about a month long hiatus in seeing one another. He such a good "older brother" to little miss. He loves to help her and give big rib-crushing hugs!

we have finally transitioned into the big girl stroller! She has been too petite to fit into the seat until now, so she is such a big girl on our way to the park nowadays.

one of her favorite things to do is empty out the bag I take to work. It is like she knows I have hidden treasures inside that she must find and empty each and every single one out...plus practicing and perfecting standing and squatting is pretty high on the priority list.

this girl knows how to pop the lid off with her two little bottom choppers and help herself ot her puffs.

she could probably do this all day long....

Mandy & Luke's Engagement Party

December 4th, 2010
Jason and I were invited to one of the most upscale engagement parties we have ever been to...(well actually I don't think we had ever been to an engagement party before.) My friend and co-worker Mandy and her artist boyfriend Luke hosted a beautiful party downtown at a really nice place...(the name is escaping me at the moment.) Jason and I enlisted Kyle and Brandy to baby-sit for us and off we went! We had a great time! Bottomless wine and good friends=a great time!

We are looking forward to their wedding in June! It will be the first time I will be without Maya for more than 12 hours. They are getting married in Maui, Hawaii and we are going Maya-less. My mom encouraged us to allow the grandparents on both sides to take care of Maya so we could enjoy some couple time on the island. It still makes me a little queasy thinking about leaving her for the 10 days it is going to be....

Mom Silber is going to be flying into San Francisco and staying for about a week before she takes Maya back to Iowa with her a few days before we leave for Maui. She will spend the first 5 days with the Silber side and the remaining 5 days with the Luneburg side and then my parents will fly back to San Francisco with her the day after we arrive back from Hawaii....(big sigh). I know....it is a super long time....but with daily skyping and phone calls I think I can make it through...plus it won't hurt to be spending some alone time with my handsome husband in paradise! :)

9 month milestones and a trip to the flower conservatory

Maya @ 9 1/2 months...
knows how to give a kiss (open-mouthed)
waves bye-bye
does a happy bounce when she hears music
kicks her legs in her high chair when she really likes what she is eating
cruises the furniture
loves to clean out our drawers
loves SHOES!
has 4 teeth
has a two-speed crawl: fast and faster
loves paper
cries when you say "NO" or take something away from her
ducks her head to crawl under things
pushes things along the floor
examines things before putting them in her mouth (doesn't have to taste test everything first)
has a litle fiesty-ness that is starting to show itself
is very vocal and says "mum-mum" "da-da"
stood alone with no hands on 11-13-10
knows how to open doors with her tiny fingers
