Maya's Nursery

So....we aren't keeping any secrets to ourselves this time around....we are planning on naming our baby Maya Lynn Silber and this is what her nursery looks like so far! :)

I bought this rocking chair off of Craigslist for $70, normally it is $130 at IKEA
We already had this dresser we pulled out of our closet that we bought from Craigslist last year for $30 I think. And, well, the rug I did splurge on and bought from Target for $100, but used our gift card money we got from our renewal of vows!

The mobile hanging over by the door will need to be put up on the ceiling above her crib, but it was a hand-me down from my great friend Ashley who took our renewal of vows pictures! She was a jackpot in the hand-me down department! She ended up giving me her crib bumper, skirt, quilt, mobile, and a ton of baby girl clothes all the way through 12 months!

After much debate I went with a sleigh crib that only converts to a toddler bed or day bed....initially I was going to get one that converts to a full bed but I think we are planning on having another baby by the time Maya grows out of her toddler bed, so....this is what I got! I think this is the only furniture I have bought new and I actually got it on sale with free shipping from Amazon for $330, the mattress was $70, and like I said....most of the bedding FREE!

This other dresser we have I bought off of craigslist for $40 and almost died when I saw it because it matches the other dresser we had already....they are from IKEA but this set is no longer sold there....so I was so LUCKY to find it and buy it! ;) I had to keep telling Jason what a great deal it was to convince him to let me buy it....since I think it is one of a kind these days and wouldn't you know that literally 5 days later the same exact dresser was up for sale on Craigslist again, but they wanted $80 for it! So I felt GREAT at least knowing we got a steal of a deal!
So all of her dressers are FILLED with clothes already, since she is going to be 8 months behind Ty & Tracy's baby we have already received, and are going to get a lot of sweet hand-me downs! When mom and dad Luneburg came out they had to bring 2 extra suitcases filled with all of Kenday's old clothes!

This changing table is originally from Pottery Barn ($350) and I think is 3 years old, but...I got it off of craigslist for $65 and the lady even delivered it to our apartment because when we went to pick it up it wouldn't fit into the Audi! It came with the changing pad and cover, but I bought a new cover. I bought the baskets from IKEA...I think those were almost as much as I paid for the changing table, but well worth it!

Penelope crib sheet from Pottery Barn only $16
Free aquarium crib toy from my soon to be sister in law Tracy

Crib set so far...need a quilt still

Crib quilt by Pottery Barn I want to get!

So....Jason has promised that once he finishes school in December he will paint some sort of a mural on the wall behind her crib...this is what I found online that I really like...we will see if he comes through on his promise....if not I think we will probably buy some of those wooden letters and spell out her name on the wall behind her crib.

I also need to get window treatments for her windows and some pictures to put in her frames but I still have plenty of time for that! I didn't want to go too girly, but it is definitely a girl's room! The paint color is Benjamin Moore's au natura color called baby's mittens! Jason has pretty much let me do everything I want to her room....not that I have asked for that much input, but he says he really likes it! (which is good because I don't know that there will be any changing it now!)

The kitties have been really interested in what is going on in her room and love to be in there, but the door is closed as of today...the room is clean and I want to minimize the kitty hair in there! They both loved to sit in the rocker, which is kind of funny. Meaka has become more attached, needing to sit on my lap all the time..I think she may know that those days are limited! But for now...these are our two sleeping beauties...Meaka & Milo.

P.S. Has anyone ever done the necklace trick....it is an old wives tale. if you hold your hand out palm up and dip a necklace to the side of your palm up and down 13 times and then hold it over your palm and wait to see if the necklace goes in a circle or back and forth it is supposedly predicting the sex of the kids you will have and how many you will have as well....

so for example....my friend did it to me and the first time it went in a circle, then you dip the necklace 13 times again and then hold it over your palm and the second time it went in a circle again....and then you dip again 13 times and hold over your palm and it went back and forth for me.....and then she dipped again 13 times and held it over my palm and the necklace didn't move....just hung there, so that means no more kids.....so according to this necklace trick I am supposedly having 2 girls and then a boy.....

The crazy thing about it all is that right now there are 5 of us pregnant in our PICU and it has predicted all of us to be right so far....and my one friend that doesn't want to have kids....it didn't go in a circle or go back and forth....it didn't do anything....so weird! Now obviously I don't know if I actually believe in this because I believe in God and His plan for me and our family, but it was just really interesting! Plus....the chinese gender predictor was wrong for me! Or....maybe we are going to have a BIG surprise when she is born and mabye she will be a HE!

Baby Bump Progression Pics

22 weeks

24 weeks

26 weeks

27 weeks

Already at 28 weeks...still need to take my pic for this week, but so far everyone tells me my bump is tiny! Hopefully that is a good thing...because I know it is only going to get bigger! :) It is starting to get harder at work because there doesn't seem to be very many kids I can take care for as we are starting to fill up with a bunch of H1N1 patients and we still have yet to even get our vaccines! One of my co-workers who is 2 weeks behind me is already out on modified disability because our unit is having a hard time accommodating us....so hopefully, fingers crossed I won't be forced to go out early. I might have to volunteer to work in NICU if it starts getting even more infectious!
Mom and Dad Luneburg came out to visit the second week of October and helped us get a little more settled in our new apartment! Dad helped knock some things off my honey-do list like hanging up cabinets, curtain brackets, etc. And we painted the baby's room! We got our crib the other day and are in the process of putting it together, so when that is put together I will post pics of her nursery! It is turning out beautifully! So far I have been able to craigslist for so many things in the nursery, it is awesome the things people sell here in the city for a fraction of the full price!
