Silber/Groll Family Christmas 2008

We had quite the eventful Christmas this year! We flew into Kansas City and rented a little PT Cruiser (not by choice) and drove to Winterset in the snow! We spent Christmas Eve and were supposed to be spending part of Christmas Day back in Missouri with the Groll family. But...Jason woke up Christmas Day with a horrible migraine that ended him up in the ED in Winterset! After a liter of fluid and a couple doses of Toradol he was a much happier guy! So, instead of driving down on Christmas Day, we spent another day with the Luneburg family and left early the next morning for Missouri.

Meeting Jason's uncles for the first time! Uncle Alan and Uncle Jack

My first Groll christmas! Mom Sherrie made me my very own stocking and it was perfectly made for me! And...check out the size! It was holding some major presents! And Jason's little stocking from when he was just a little boy!

Luneburg Christmas 2008

This Christmas we were lucky enough to travel home to Iowa together! I had a week off of work which I had gotten written into my nursing contract with UCSF. We didn't have any problems getting home either! We flew into Kansas City a direct flight from San Francisco. We spent the night at a hotel and drove the next morning to mom and dad Luneburg's house! We had coordinated with the Silber fam and both mom and dad were to sing solos at Olivet Baptist Church in Des Moines so the Luneburg side of the family joined the Silber fam at Olivet for Christmas Eve candle light service. Both mom and dad sang beautifully! After church the Silber fam, including new foreign exchange student Jun, and Zorro the family dog joined the Luneburgs' at the house in Winterset for Christmas Eve Dinner! It was so fabulous to have everyone home together again! Justin and Sam made it in from Denver earlier in the day, Ty and Tracy came from Tracy's family's house and Josie and the Silbers were there! We ate Christmas Even Dinner and read about the night Jesus was born and had just a fabulous time talking with everyone! The Silbers actually spent the night at mom and dad Luneburgs and we headed into Winterset to stay at Ty & Tracy's house with Justin and Sam. We all stayed up until around 4 am together playing this game called Pop 5! It was so much fun and of course the LADIES WON! Sadly, the next morning Jason developed a horrible migraine that ended him right in the ER in Winterset. After a couple doses of Toradol, Zofran and a liter of NS he was more alert and his headache was more tolerable. We were supposed to drive to Missouri for the Silber family Christmas but with the whole migraine experience we settled in for another night at the Luneburgs. Here are some pics from the Luneburg Family Christmas!

This was our Christmas tree in San Francisco, we were able to squeeze it in our tiny apartment! And you can also see my nativity scenen in the background!

Brother Justin, the Chiropractor, eating SKITTLES! He is such a health nut always preaching about being organic and we were able to capture him indulging in some sweets!

December 2008 Updates

Thursday December 5th, 2008
Jason and I are lucky enough to get to go to all of our routine exams together....We both went to the optometrist and ended up getting our eyes dilated! It was hilarius trying to get ourselves home afterwards! We were able to walk to the appointment, I remembered my sunglasses but Jason didn't, so he was stuck wearing the ones provided by the Dr.'s office!

We both ordered new glasses! The plan is for me to start wearing my glasses at home to help strengthen my left eye (lazy eye) so that I am work up to wearing a contact in just my left eye. (As a child I had to wear a patch on my right eye in hopes to strengthen my left eye-but the treatment wasn't totally successful because since my right eye is 20/20 my brain only recognizes what my right eye is seeing-interesting huh?)

Japantown square...just blocks from where we live! Not the best picture ever.

Look at this flower! It was so interesting! We found it in Japantown!

Not quite sure what this actually is but we thought it looked cool!

We decided for Christmas this year we were going to buy all of our gifts from Chinatown and do kind of a theme with our gifts. We met up with Kyle and did some of our shopping together. It was a lot of fun!

A beautiful church near Chinatown

A hilarious hat we found in one of the stores in chinatown Jason made me put it on and snapped a picture before I was even ready! So, lack of expression is because he took the picture so quickly! it was so funny!

Christmas in the city....the biggest Christmas tree in Union Square!

Union Square Macy's decorated every window with Christmas wreaths. Christmas in the city just felt magical! Everywhere you look there are bright lights and beautiful decorations!

Jason and I both absolutely love the broadway musciscl Phantom of the Opera and when I heard it was coming to the San Francisco Orpheum Theatre I had to get tickets!

We made a little dinner and had some wine to toast to our fun night ahead of us! And since we are so used to taking our own pictures J accidentally dropped the camera when the lens was out and it broke the camera!

This was a post camera dropped picture.....unfortunately we just had to go to Phantom without a camera but it was an absolutely amazing production and if it would ever come here again we would probably see it again!
